Strengthened guidance from September 2022 requires operators to monitor for indicators of harm in real time, including high spend velocity, time-of-night play patterns, and rapid loss-chasing deposits. Operators must take affordability into account, document their interactions, and act on a tiered scale from automated nudges through to account closure.
