ASA

Also: Advertising Standards Authority

The UK's independent advertising regulator — it enforces the CAP code on gambling marketing across paid media, social and affiliate channels.

In detail

The ASA administers the CAP code (non-broadcast) and BCAP code (broadcast). Gambling rules sit in CAP section 16 and prohibit content likely to appeal to under-18s, require socially responsible messaging, ban claims that gambling can solve financial problems, and restrict celebrities or characters with strong youth appeal. A 2022 update banned the use of top-flight footballers and reality-TV stars in gambling ads.
