Strong appeal test

The 2022 ASA standard that prohibits gambling marketing from using anyone or anything likely to be of strong appeal to under-18s.

In detail

Effective 1 October 2022, the test replaced the previous 'particular appeal' standard and is intentionally stricter. It catches not only celebrities and athletes but also animation styles, music and visual aesthetics linked to youth culture. Operators and affiliates are responsible for the content of their own ads and for any content posted by influencers or streamers they pay to promote brands.
