Segregated funds

A UKGC requirement that customer balances are kept in accounts separate from operating funds — with disclosure of the protection level offered.

In detail

UKGC rules require operators to disclose one of three protection levels: basic (segregation but no insolvency protection), medium (segregation with insolvency protection), or high (held in trust for the benefit of customers). The level must be stated in the operator's terms and conditions. 'High' is the strongest but is offered by a minority of operators; 'medium' is most common at large UK brands.
